RULES OF LA SCARA

ARTICLE 1

This peculiar race will allow unclassified young french skiers to take part in an international race for children.
 

ARTICLE 2 :

This race is open to any young girls and boys born between 1998 and 2001  from U14 (ex FIS Children 1)  and U16 (ex FIS Children 2) categories (FIS Children 1 and 2).
 

ARTICLE 3 : FRENCH QUALIFYING RACES – APRIL 8th AND 9th

BOYS :
A pre-qualification race will take place on 2 different Giant Slalom runs dividing the first 10 french U14 and U16 skiers in the order of the French Championships results (U14) or the provisory general ranking of the "Ecureuils d'Or" for the U16. This racers will be drawn inside the 30 first bibs.
The first 50 of each run will race face to face on a one run Giant Slalom and the first 40 will be qualified for the international races.
 
GIRLS :
A pre-qualification race will take place on 2 different Giant Slalom runs dividing the first 10 french Benjamin and Minim skiers in the order of the French Championships results (U14) or the provisory general ranking of the "Ecureuils d'Or" for the U16.This racers will be drawn inside the 30 first bibs.
The first 40 of each run will race face to face on a one run Giant Slalom and the first 30 will be qualified for the international races.
 
 

ARTICLE 4 : INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN RACES

These races will take place on Thursday April 10th and Friday April 11th 2014. The French qualified racers will start in the order of their qualifying race ranking.
 
NB : the Organising Committee reserves the right to replace the FIS Super G by a FIS Giant Slalom (1 run only) if bad weather conditions do not allow a Super G to take place.

Moreover, all racers qualified for FIS races must have the «Statement of discharge in correlation with a request for a FIS international licence» signed by themselves, their parents or their legal guardian. This document can be downloaded on the website www.valsport.org
 

ARTICLE 5 : ENTRIES

For the race on April 8th, entry closing time : Saturay april 5th at 1pm. For the race on April 9th, entry closing time : April 6th at 1pm.

International races entry closing time : Sunday April 6th at 1pm.

To enter the races, the following information will be needed :
First and last names, date of birth, group number of starting rank.

ARTICLE 6 : RACE OFFICE

The team captains’ meetings will take place in the Club des Sports.

The office hours are for the «Club des Sports de Val d’Isère» from 9.00 am till 7.00 pm.
 

ARTICLE 7 : ACCIDENT INSURANCE

Each racer must be insured in case of accident : each racer must have a valid national licence which insures him for practicing alpine skiing in competition.

The Organising Committee will decline responsibility for any accident consequences or material damage which may occur out of training or competition periods.
 

ARTICLE 8:

The races will be organised according to the prevailing FIS rules. A different process of drawing is made between SL races and SG races. In each group each participating nation is allotted one starting place maximum.
 
SUPER G RACES : (According to the Sub Committee Youth and Children statement)
Classification of nation according to world rank :
• Rank 1 : nation with 10 or more racers in top 100 world FIS rank.
• Rank 2 : nation between 5 and 9 racers in top 100 world FIS rank.
• Rank 3 : nation between 0 and 4 racers in top 100 world FIS rank.
 
Group 1 : Draw with all nations, 1 racer per nation.
Group 2 : Draw with nations in rank 1 + 1 host nation.
Group 3 : Draw with nation in rank 1 (3rd) and rank 2 (2nd) + 1 host nation.
Group 4 : Draw with nation in rank 2 (3rd) and rank 3 (2nd) + 1 host nation.
Other groups : Draw with nation in rank 3 and host nation.
 
SLALOM RACES :
Group 1 : The first group will contain one athlete from each nation registered. Each nation is allowed to only one start place
Group 2 - 3 - 4 : Same as group 1
Last group: the last group consists of the athletes of the organizing nation, in double quota. If the number of competing athletes exceeds the double quota a separate group will be drawn after the entire starting field in the same procedure as group 1.
The team leaders are responsible for the identification of participants in each group.
 

ARTICLE 9 : ACCOMMODATION (for National Teams )

The Organising Committee will do the necessary accommodation according to the entry form.

The quotas for accommodation in charge of the organisation : 9 persons total, 3 nights, including maximum 3 coaches.

ARTICLE 10 : PRIZES

The first 5 skiers of each category will receive a cup. As usual, the winner of each international race will receive his weight in sweets «PIERROT GOURMAND». (a product of the ANDROS Company).
