Her life

Christine Béranger-Goitschel, was born in June of 1944 in Saint Maxime. She is the older sister of champion skier Marielle and the aunt of former speed skier Philippe Goirschel. After great success in the 1964 Winter Olympics of Innsbruck, she and her sister Marielle were considered the world’s best female skiers. She married her skiing coach in 1966. She retired from her sporting career after the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, France. In 1970, Goitschel and her husband were the co created the ski resort of Val Thorens.
